Hard-Fought Loss Puts Lakers U12s at 1-2; Focus Shifts to Development

The Saturday SCS Lakers U12s had a tough time against the Koya Falconz, losing 41-13 in a hard-fought game. Even though they lost, the Lakers played with heart and determination the whole game, and several players stepped up to help on offense. The team is now 1-2 for the season as they work on getting better at working together and strengthening their skills.

Josh Evans #20 was the Lakers' top scorer, with 8 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field. He showed outstanding shot selection and finishing skills. Josh established himself early on, scoring the team's first basket in the first half. He kept up his strong play in the second half by making two field goals in a row late in the game. Hunter Caroll #35 also helped a lot by scoring 3 points, making a two-pointer, and showing outstanding calmness at the free-throw line by making his only attempt. Ethan Espiritu #24 scored 2 points in the first half with a successful field goal.

The Koya Falconz began the game with impressive shooting, showcasing several scoring streaks that contributed to a valuable learning experience. But every time the Lakers came back strong, refusing to give up and fighting for every possession. The team's effort and excellent sportsmanship during the whole game showed their character and desire to get better.

The Lakers didn't get the score they wanted, but they showed growth as individuals and as a team, which will help them in the future. The young players on this team are getting better and better as they continue their summer season journey. Evans' accurate shooting and the contributions from Hunter and Ethan are good examples of this.
