The Friday SCS Lakers U12s left everything on the court this week, pushing a talented SCS Falcons squad in a high-octane 46-30 contest. Although the outcome elevates their season record to 5-6-1, the final score fails to capture the intensity of the first half, which was arguably the most thrilling basketball game of the year.
The opening periods were a masterclass in competition, featuring nine lead changes that kept the crowd on their feet. Kyron T ignited the energy with an early bucket, setting the stage for a back-and-forth war. Jai Singh provided a massive highlight with a silky three-pointer to snatch an 8-6 lead, while Syd Malveda’s timely baskets answered every Falcons surge. The Lakers displayed incredible poise under pressure, heading into the halftime break trailing by the thinnest of margins at 25-24.
Josh Evans led the Lakers' offensive charge with a gritty 10-point night, anchoring the second half with another standout performance. Josh showcased his versatility by relentlessly attacking the paint, finishing with three field goals and earning seven trips to the charity stripe. Supporting him, Syd Malveda and Jai Singh provided 6 points each, with Malveda’s efficient shooting and Singh’s accuracy from a distance keeping the pressure on the Falcons. Kyron T and Ethan Espiritu—who was perfect from the free-throw line—rounded out a balanced scoring attack with 4 points apiece. Although the Falcons managed to find an extra gear in the closing minutes to pull away, the Lakers never stopped competing. This performance was a testament to the team’s character and resilience, proving that when they play with this level of intensity, they can challenge any opponent in the league.
