Friday SCS Lakers U14s Battle Through Final Minutes in Tight Clash with Phoenix Flames at Court 2, 7:15pm, 13 March 2026

The Friday SCS Lakers U14s battled hard at home against the Phoenix Flames Firestorm but came up short in a 30-19 defeat. Despite the loss, the Lakers maintain a strong 7-3 record on the season and showed plenty of fight throughout the contest, keeping the game competitive for most of the way. The team felt the absence of Chris Wourman, whose presence on both ends of the floor was greatly missed during this tough matchup.

The Lakers got off to an excellent start, with Muse #31 leading the charge early. He opened the scoring with a field goal and free throw to give his team a 3-0 advantage. The game remained tight throughout the first half, with several lead changes keeping fans on the edge of their seats. Muse kept the Lakers in the hunt with a clutch three-pointer that cut the deficit to just one point at 8-7, though the Phoenix Flames managed to take an 11-7 lead into halftime.

The second half brought more exciting basketball as the Lakers refused to back down. Muse continued his outstanding performance, scoring early in the half and later drilling a spectacular three-pointer to tie the game 13-13. When Phoenix Flames threatened to pull away, Muse responded again with another three-pointer to keep his team within striking distance at 17-16. Blake Prunster #11 provided crucial support late in the game, converting a field goal and free throw to tie the score 19-19 with a perfect 2-for-2 shooting performance.

Unfortunately, Phoenix Flames Firestorm closed out the game with an 11-point scoring run that proved too much for the Lakers to overcome. Muse #31 delivered an exceptional individual performance, leading all Lakers scorers with 15 points on 5-of-13 shooting, including an impressive 3-of-8 from three-point range. His ability to keep the team competitive against a tough opponent showcased the heart and determination that has made this Lakers squad successful all season long.
