The Saturday SCS Lakers U14s came back from behind to win, beating the NS Ballerz 41-30 and improving their perfect record to 2-0. The Lakers fell behind 8-0 early in the game, but they showed outstanding teamwork and strength to come back and win by 11 points in front of their families and friends.
There were a lot of lead changes and exciting swings in momentum in the first half of the game. The Lakers had their toughest test early on when NS Ballerz took an 8-0 lead, but the team responded brilliantly with help from many players. Josh #20 scored the first basket for the Lakers, and then Muse #31 scored two in a row to cut the lead. With a clutch basket, Ralph Wendell Basilan #3 tied the game at 8-8. Then, with a perfect three-pointer, Kenjie #90 gave the Lakers their first lead. The first half was still competitive, with seven ties and many lead changes. However, Jack Evans #2's hot shooting, which included a key three-pointer, helped the Lakers take a 32-30 lead at the half.
Kyle #44 scored 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting (83%), making him the top scorer. His efficient offense made him the best player in the paint. Jack Evans #2 and Muse #31 each scored 8 points. Jack showed how versatile he is by making one of his two three-pointers and all three of his free throws. Kenjie #90 made all of his shots, scoring 5 points on 2-of-2 field goals, including a clutch three-pointer. Josh #20 also made all of his shots, scoring 4 points on 2-of-2 shooting.
The Lakers took charge in the second half with a strong 9-0 run to start the period, which pretty much ended the game. Kyle #44 and Muse #31 led the way with a big push, with Kyle scoring 4 more points and Muse scoring 2. The Lakers' balanced offense and strong defense kept NS Ballerz from scoring in the second half. These performances made the game less competitive and more comfortable for the Lakers, showing how deep and determined this team is.
