Saturday SCS Lakers U12s: A Masterclass in Grading

The Saturday SCS Lakers U12s had a fantastic start to the Winter 2026 grading season this past weekend, beating the Killa Beez 38-12. The Lakers were in complete control of the game from the first tip to the last buzzer, starting their season with a 1-0 record. The crowd was electric at the home opener, and the team responded by following a strong game plan that led to a convincing 26-point win on their home court.

Kenji Rico made a smooth three-pointer for the Lakers' first basket, which set the tone for the rest of the game. Jai Singh quickly followed with a three-pointer of his own, and the two of them, Singh and Rico, were too much for the other team to handle. The Lakers were ahead by a comfortable 16-9 at halftime, thanks to Singh, who led the way and set the pace for a fast-paced offensive performance.

The second half showed how deep the Lakers are and how well they can score. Kenji Rico got hot early in the period, scoring eight straight points to take control of the game and make the score 26-9. Rico scored an impressive 15 points, thanks to his efficient shooting and constant threat from the outside. The lead quickly grew too big to overcome when Jai Singh took over late in the game and scored six straight points to end a remarkable individual performance. Jai was completely unstoppable the whole time. He scored 19 points, which made it impossible for the Killa Beez to come back.

The scoring leaders got a lot of attention, but the whole team played well to help them win. Hunter Carroll came off the bench and played well, scoring four points on perfect shooting to keep the Lakers' momentum going. This first win was a great example of the club's strong team chemistry and balanced attack, which are two things that have become its trademark. This young Saturday team has shown that they have a very exciting season of basketball ahead of them by winning a statement game.
