The U12s fought hard against the Caversham Panthers, but they lost a close game 41–32, bringing their record for the season to 2–2–1. Even though they lost, the Lakers played with a lot of heart and worked well together. Several players stepped up to help on offense. Syd Malveda and Kyron T, who both played important roles, each scored 4 points, and Kyron T shot an impressive 50% from the field.
The Lakers started off strong in the first half, taking a quick 4-0 lead thanks to fast baskets from Josh Evans and Kyron T. Both teams traded baskets in the first quarter, and the game stayed close with many lead changes. Jai Singh was the Lakers' top scorer in the first half with 6 points, and Evans and Kayson C also made important baskets. The Lakers were very tough. They answered a 6-point run by the Caversham team with baskets from Kayson C and Evans to tie the game at 18. They then ended the half down by only two points, 22-20.
The Lakers had to deal with problems in the second half when Caversham went on an 8-point scoring run early in the period, but they never gave up. Kayson C really stepped up. He made a big basket and hit both of his free throws on a three-point play to keep his team close. The balanced scoring was impressive, with three players—Kayson C, Jai Singh, and Josh Evans—each scoring 8 points even though they had trouble shooting. Jai Singh shot well from the field (4-10, 40%), Evans stayed aggressive with 13 shot attempts, and Kayson C stayed calm at the free throw line when his team needed it most. Syd Malveda and Kyron T, who are both role players, also helped out a lot by scoring 4 points each. Kyron T shot an impressive 50% from the field.
